WE ARE SOLDIERS

About Us

Be More, Be Better

The Tri-County Soldiers Basketball Club is a co-ed basketball club committed to the development of elite female & male athletes in Kitchener, Waterloo, Guelph, Brantford, and surrounding areas.

With a holistic approach to player and personal development, our club aims to give its players the ultimate opportunity to accomplish their goals.

We look for the right players – who are team first, committed to the process, patient and persistent – who aim to make themselves and their teammates better.

We teach the game we love to watch

We value players with a first to the floor mentality. The ones who are competitive enough to think three passes ahead. The ones willing to play the game like chess rather than checkers.

We believe in team first, telling the truth and trust at the highest levels.

We aren’t looking for the best players, we’re looking for the right players. The ones who are committed to the process of improving. The ones that have embraced the long and difficult journey to excellence.

We strive to provide players with the blueprint, compass, and map to achieving their personal best.

"The coaching staff is unparalleled to what you will find anywhere else. They are a group completely devoted to helping you achieve your full athletic potential. Whether that means heading to the gym and working out with you at 7am or at 7pm, they will be there..."

“I am so thankful that I was able to be apart of Soldiers Basketball, as some of my fondest memories and greatest accomplishments I owe to the program. First of all, the coaching staff is unparalleled to what you will find anywhere else. They are a group completely devoted to helping you achieve your full athletic potential. Whether that means heading to the gym and working out with you at 7am or at 7pm, they will be there. They also were great at providing diversified workout opportunities, I loved participating in boxing sessions, aqua fit classes, and doing workouts in the sand at Sandhills Provincial Park. And of course, can’t forget a trip to Spain to play overseas!! Not only am I grateful to the Soldiers for helping to make me into the basketball player I am today, I am grateful because through this program I got to meet some of my closest friends and greatest mentors. I know that as I move forward in my career, I will always look back at this step on my path with pure joy and gratitude.”

KATE MORAN, WILFRED LAURIER UNIVERSITY

"One of the things I enjoyed most about playing for the Soldiers is the culture they create. The coaches care about you as a player and as a person."

“One of the things I enjoyed most about playing for the Soldiers is the culture they create. The coaches care about you as a player and as a person. The messages and meaning behind being a Soldier are lessons that you can take with you in life. The program focuses on building a connection with the individual players, helping them with their ambitions as well as helping the team reach their goals. A unique side of the Soldiers program that I was fortunate enough to experience was learning by teaching/coaching. With a mix of younger and older teams there is an amazing opportunity for mentorship for all the players and coaches. I am extremely lucky and grateful to know that I will always have a home with the Soldiers program!”

KENNEDY CHISOLM, BROCK UNIVERSITY

"The Soldiers program offers endless opportunities for players to grow both on and off the court. With a group of committed coaches providing gym times 6-7 times a week and countless other off court training possibilities, the players are given the necessary preparation for whatever they chose to do with their life..."

“While my experience with the Soldiers may have been short, it was one I’ll never forget and am very grateful I spent my final year of high school with this program. The Soldiers program offers endless opportunities for players to grow both on and off the court. With a group of committed coaches providing gym times 6-7 times a week and countless other off court training possibilities, the players are given the necessary preparation for whatever they chose to do with their life. This was my first year with the Soldiers and I have never been with another program offering life advice, an immense amount of gym time, a trip to Spain and high level fitness training. These coaches are dedicated to giving the players opportunities for success and believe it is up to the players to take the initiative to jump at these chances. This program has given me lasting memories, inspiration to continually push myself to do my best and friendships that will last a lifetime. If you are looking for a place to grow your game to the level it needs to be at for the post-secondary level, the Soldiers program is your best bet!”

GRACE MAHLER, MOHAWK COLLEGE

"My experience with the Soldiers is one that I will carry with me for the rest of my life."

“I joined the Soldiers for the summer season before Juel. I was welcomed into the group and had such a great time learning from the coaches and being part of the Soldier family. I played for my Juel years and the coaching I received set me up for my post secondary play at Mohawk College. The coaches cared about improving me as an individual person both on and off the court. My experience with the Soldiers is one that I will carry with me for the rest of my life!”

SONJA MATHEWS, UNIVERSITY OF WATERLOO

"I was provided with the opportunity to get in a gym and work on my game almost every day of the week...."

“Before starting the Soldiers program I was a shy, 8th grader and very new to basketball. In the program, I was provided with the opportunity to get in a gym and work on my game almost every day of the week. I loved working with coaches that were always pushing me to get better and helping me to get out of my comfort zone. I enjoyed being able to try out many different workouts. Without being in the Soldiers program I would have never tried boxing or aqua fit! I also would never have formed so many close relationships with some amazing teammates and coaches. The Soldiers program helped develop me into the university basketball player and much more outgoing person I am today.”

CHARISSA VIRR, UNIVERSITY OF WATERLOO

"The Soldiers program pushed me out of my comfort zone to help me learn the skills and gain the confidence required to compete at the next level. In the three years I’ve been with this program I have gained strong mentors, lifelong friends, and experiences that will never be forgotten."

“I am extremely grateful for the three years that I played in the Soldiers Basketball program. Every minute I spent listening to and learning from the coaches was an investment of time, not just in my development as a player, but also as a person as many of the lessons learned in the program extend well beyond the court. The Soldiers program pushed me out of my comfort zone to help me learn the skills and gain the confidence required to compete at the next level. The dedicated coaching staff provided endless opportunities to get into the gym and to help work on my game almost every day of the week. Since everyone involved was committed to working hard to achieve their goals, many friendships were made and a family atmosphere was created. In the three years I’ve been with this program I have gained strong mentors, lifelong friends, and experiences that will never be forgotten.”
